Today is the 65th anniversary of “E Day”. September 4, 1957 (BTB) marked the introduction of the Ford Edsel, which, according to author and Edsel scholar Jan Deutsch, was “the wrong car at the wrong time,” and now stands as a shining example of corporate culture failing to understand American consumers.
Number one on the radio right about then was, of course, Elvis Presley, who was a much bigger fan of Cadillacs.
